22 months at the Rockin' R

This past weekend, we went to the Rockin' R. This is a special place to Mitchell. He grew up going out there with his buddy, Ward. It's Ward's family's ranch but I think Mitchell goes out there more than Ward does. Since Rhett loves being outside so much, it's a great getaway for all of us. I had a special time bonding in the great outdoors with my little boy. The dogs absolutely love it too. It was pretty cold but it looks more like spring out with everything being so green and the broom weed in bloom. Also, Rhett got his first bloody nose here. You can tell in a few of the pics where he busted it.

almost 22 months

I had to get some JHP photos of Rhett in his outfit he wore to Uncle Jordan's wedding before he got too big for it. Unfortunately, I could not get smiles out of him that day but here are a few nonetheless. Also, I'm going to update my blog (and myself for the future) on what Rhett has been doing lately.

--He's saying a TON of words and it seems like he has a new one each day. Last month, I counted and he says over 100 words that he knows on his own without being prompted. He also has several two to three word phrases he says. He's recognizing and counting from 1 to 10.
-He's recognizing several letters from the alphabet.
-He knows colors red, blue, green, yellow, orange, black, white, and brown.
-He knows a ton of animals and the sounds each one makes.
-He's eating with a spoon and fork great (has been for 2-3 months). Still using the left hand.
-Still very into balls:  batting, kicking, catching, throwing, shooting, dribbling (all left-handed, except he kicks right-footed).
-He likes cartoons, we are having to limit that habit!
-He likes puzzles and books. He especially loves Dr Suess books. Green Eggs and Ham and Hop on Pop.
-He's still eating pretty well although he's gotten a lot pickier the last month.
-He's getting his incisors. He has the top two almost all the way in but the bottom two haven't broken through yet.
-He will sit on the toilet if I ask him to go tee tee. He started telling me a couple months ago when he'd boo boo so I just started putting him on the toilet to see what would happen. He hasn't pooped but will tee tee almost every time, although we haven't officially started potty training.
-He still loves MDO. The teacher's tell me how smart and athletic he is. He also loves music and is good at moves and rhythm.
-He's in swim lessons still and swims without me now (with the instructor). He does great and still loves it.
-He goes down for bed around 8 or 8:30 and sleeps till about 7:30, taking one, 2-3 hour nap per day.
-He LOVES being outside and we spend most of our time outside. He loves the park, slides and swings. He loves playing outside with the dogs and they like playing with him.

I think that's it for now...

21 months - October at the Fair

We went to the fair last week with Mitchell's brother, Michael, and his daughter, Harper. I think Michael and I had as much fun as the kids riding the rides with them. They rode several then we stopped at the petting zoo. Rhett also had his first ever Fletcher's corn dog and we saw Big Tex one last time before he burned down.
